Mr. Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO of HCL Infosystems Limited, India’s premier information enabler and country’s leading ICT system integrator and distribution company was today declared the ‘Dataquest IT Man of the Year’ for 2007. The Dataquest award resented to Mr. Chowdhry by Mr. Nandan Nilekani, Co-Chairman, Infosys Technologies Ltd., on December 11, 2007 at a function in Delhi that will bring the top CEOs and leaders of the Indian IT industry.
Mr. Ajai Chowdhary, co-founder of HCL, has been an influential force in driving the growth of IT adoption in India. His ideas have found shape in several landmark events in the history of IT revolution in India, including the launch of country’s first desktop PC –BusyBee in 1985 and India’s first branded home PC – Beanstalk in 1995. He has also led a sustained campaign to bridge the digital divide in the country by working closely with the government and the industry on various initiatives to boost the PC penetration in India.
Establishing India’s largest vertically integrated ICT manufacturing company, he had envisioned bringing recognition to Indian ICT manufacturing and putting India strongly on the ICT manufacturing map of the world.
